The power is back on in Manhattan and the Bronx after an outage darkened large parts of those boroughs on Wednesday, knocking out traffic lights, cutting subway service and forcing the evacuation of the Metropolitan Museum of Art on one of the hottest days of the year.
Con Edison said the blackout affected 136,700 customers in all. The cause was under investigation, but spokesman Chris Olert said it was some sort of transmission disturbance. He didn't know the heat was a factor. "We won't even speculate on the cause yet," Olert said.
As a precaution, to avoid collisions, trains on those lines were halted. It is unclear how many trains were still stopped and how many people were affected.
Metro-North spokesperson Margie Anders said riders should xpect delays and crowding tonight on all trains because of a power outage in the Bronx.
"Because we do not have full power, we are not able to run a full schedule of trains at this time, she said. " We can operate only one train per track between Grand Central and Morris Heights on the Hudson Line and from Grand Central to Tremont on the Harlem and New Haven Lines."
The city was in the second day of temperatures well over 90 degrees.

Och mitt i allt det här stod Karl och Kristin från lilla Sverige. De skulle titta på konst på Metropolitan Museum of Art. Sen skulle de åka tunnelbana, men det gick inte heller... Jag önskar jag varit där och inte på jobbet.
